  1. I just finished watching this interview and I was very impressed! Scott gives us his real-world experiences in starting his business and making it thrive throughout the years. Great advice for anyone starting a new business on their own, whether it's photography or any other business. I really enjoyed the interview setting...very informal and relaxed. Great job!

  2. Great interview. Although I plan to remain an "amateur" photographer your comments were informative and relevant to any work environment. While good professional skills are always required, differentiating and marketing yourself and commitment to excellent, continually improving service is most important. You have certainly demonstrated this through Kelby Training products.

  3. Scott, thank you for the candid thoughts on growing your business. I just recently started my own photography business and your comments hit a home run for me. I will definitely heed your advice and hopefully be a successful business owner also.

  4. I would personally LOVE to thank Mr. Kelby along with the rest of the instructors and everyone else that makes my learning experience wonderful here on Kelby Training. I am a self-taught photographer who has been watching your training courses for a few months now and I absolutely love it. I bought my 1st DSLR in 2010 and in just a few months I have learned more than what I have learned in the past 2 years. Thank you guys so much.

  5. Just watched Scott Kelby talking about "Growing your business" I Love these interviews you've started to do and this one has to be my favourite so far! Scott is so inspirational and it was great to hear the background to how Kelby Media got started. I've learned so much since joining Kelby Training and can't go a single day without watching at least one of the tutorials. I would have loved to have been able to go to Photoshop World but it's a bit out of reach at present, maybe you'll bring it to the UK someday? Keep up the Great work guys! Your Number One Fan from the UK.

  6. Wow, Scott. Thank you so much for taking the time out of your schedule to do this "piece to camera". I learned a lot that 9 months ago I would have said: "Hey, I know that!", when in fact I did not. Until today with you and your experience. Cheers mate.

  7. I totally LOVED all that Scott shared in this training. I can't even begin to express how wonderful it was and especially how personal Scott was in what he shared. I loved every minute of it. Thank you, Scott, for all you've done to help literally thousands grow in their photography. I so appreciate your faithfulness and the risks you've taken. I loved especially what you shared about the risk you took early on and the results. I don't want to spoil the story - but just gotta say it was an incredible and inspiring story. All that you shared was extremely inspirational. I found myself brainstorming at least five different big ideas after listening to all your wisdom and experience. I highly recommend this for every photographer.

  8. Scott continues to deliver excellent photography training. Growing your business offers invaluable insight to those already in, or thinking about entering business as a photographer. Cannot stress enough how useful this course is by way of transferring highly useful business knowledge in an easy to absorb format. Kelby Training is like having technical and business mentors on your payroll. Hope to see more business related courses. Well done.

  9. Great interview with Scott. Just want to tip my cap to (another great hire) in your interviewer. She has a knack for asking some of the best questions, communicates very clearly, and keeps the flow moving along. The people on the big network morning talk shows have nothing on her. Great great stuff... Keep it up as always Scott!

  10. This was a fantastic series of videos! I'm in the process of taking the "great leap" right now and Scott's advice is both timely and sage. Thank you!

  11. Excellent class and insight on getting your business started. Would love more follow up classes going into greater detail on starting up a studio. Keep the classes coming Scott! We need more!

  12. It's a funny thing. I had seen this posted and had sort of put off watching it because I'm that serious hobbyist that Scott described so the business side of things usually isn't my interest. However, I have to admit that because it was Scott Kelby giving the discussion, I thought it might be interesting to watch. Well, I have to say that I truly enjoyed it. As usual, Scott's down to earth approach to things is so refreshing. He just makes good sense and it comes from not only his life philosophy but also his many years of experience. I guess what I'm saying (which is what Scott described too) is no matter what level or interest we have in photography (or anything else for that matter) we need to be open to always learn new things. I'm a believer big time. So, thanks Scott for all you do and all the advice. While I may never make my living at photography I hope I never stop learning. Great job!!!

  13. Great course ! Lots of useful tips and insights...By the way, Scott's photographs are famous, I saw one on the Editor's Choice page of 500px.

  14. Mia is a superb addition to the team. She asks cogent questions that we would like answered and makes the whole presentation flow. Of course Scott's insights into his personal experience of business building is invaluable.

  15. Excellent interview with Scott. He was informative and entertaining. And, Miya the interviewer was outstanding and I hope you continue to use her with these types of interviews.

  16. The interview was fantastic and very informative, I have to say that starting your own business is not easy, but with our talent and these stupendous training videos from Scott Kelby's team, the sky will be the limit, Great Work!

  17. I found Scott's interview to be very honest and straight forward. As an aspiring professional photographer, I look forward to interviews like these in the future. It's quite difficult to weed through the massive amount of information on the internet these days. That's why I try to find sources that have some credibility. I think Kelby Training has that kind of credibility.

  18. It's an amazing class. Really worth it to watch as a beginner in photography business. I got a lot of inspiration and tips.Thank's Scott!

  19. Truthful and Inspiring! I would recommend this to anyone! I'm even thinking on starting a business, even if it's not photography or design related. Great Job!!

  20. Great course! I'm curious tho, it was mentioned to have only 24 photos in your portfolio. But is there a rule of thumb for how many photos from a shoot I should keep? Obviously I'd get rid of the out of focus, etc, but what's a good way to narrow down how many TOTAL I should keep (in terms of storage, other uses, sending to clients, etc)?

  21. AWESOME, AWESOME Interview! I always enjoy listening to Scott Kelby give his realistic and inspiration insights to ANY part of photography. Its always good to listen to someone speak from experience. We hear speakers all the time but most don't speak from the heart about their craft. Scott does just that! Thanks, Scott!
