Plug-ins are huge! Everyone is using ‘em. Usually photographers start off in one of the key programs like Lightroom or Photoshop. But then, jump in to a plug-in to help finish things off with effects and settings that only plug-ins offer. In this class, Matt Kloskowski takes a look at onOne’s new Perfect Photo Suite 8. Not only is it a great place to add special effects to your photos, retouching them in just a few clicks, and convert to gorgeous black and whites, but it’s also become a one-stop shop if you wanted to edit a photo from start to finish.

Matt. I have been been a member for a few years and now that I retired would love to take my passion for photography to a higher level.
My gear is Nikon D300s ( which I love albeit have a Nikon D810 on my wish list $$$). Lens are 18-200mm, 10-24mm, 85mm, and my new toy a 70-200mm VRII – all Nikor lenses.
Having said this, I am taking as many courses on line and meet up groups as I can. I am very new to post processing and need to learn how to finish my photos. I purchased Elements 13 from B&H a few weeks ago and was in the midst of learning how to use it. I was told I should have purchased LR5 instead. I am also on a trial with OnOne Photosuite 9 – which I find really easy to use.
Problem is I find very little on line about Elements 13 and a great deal on LR5 and Photoshop. What do you suggest or recommend I do?
Adobe is offering a monthly plan for LR5 and PS. I will buy OnOne 9. Should I buy LR5 and combine it with OnOne as your video shows?
I would love to learn how to properly use all these programs from you. Your comments please. Thanks and Happy Holidays.

    Matt,

I recently purchased a Wacom Intuos Tablet for use primarily with Light-room. Q is are there functions the wacom can do with Perfect Photo Suite??

In lesson one you indicted that you use the method: file>plugin extra from lightroom to on one. When I do sits it sends me to Finder were I can use the image to work on. I then get a message that tells me that Lightroom and on one is not communicating with each other. How do I fix this problem?

Very good information. The program was easy to use without much help but this class takes me to the next level.

As always, Matt is a teacher first and foremost. However, there was a chapter 11 that would not play for me last night (on tips and tricks) but today it is not listed. Any reason why?

    Hi Matt,
I have one question and that is. When you apply and save an image it goes back into lightroom as a psd file. I wanted to run it through nik define 2 and said it would not work as it did not recognize file format. Does that mean I have to export into layers as a tiff file and can you still use layers or it can only be a psd file to work properly or do I save as a tiff file when exiting layers. I think I have jumbled things up here. I guess I am asking what would be the workflow if using pps8 and nik collection.
    I generaly start in Lightroom.
